Egypt, Somalia discuss boosting military cooperation

Egypt’s Armed Forces Chief of Staff Lt. General Mahmoud Hegazy received here on Wednesday visiting Somali National Army (SNA) Chief of Defense Forces Maj. Gen. Mohamed Adan Ahmed along with his accompanying delegation.

The meeting, which was attended by senior army officials, took up an exchange of views on regional developments and challenges on both regional and international arenas.
They also discussed boosting bilateral military cooperation, capitalizing on educational and training capabilities to train armed forces cadres.
For his part, Lt. General Hegazy underlined the strength of bilateral relations that bind together the nationals of the two countries.
He also pointed out to the strategic importance of Somalia in east Africa, adding that it secures the universal navigation movement.
Meanwhile,  Maj.Gen. Ahmed hailed Egypt’s support for Somalia in several fields as well as its effective role in overcoming difficulties and pressing issues and seeking peace.
Maj.Gen. Ahmed is on a several days’ official visit to Egypt.
